NLC cancels May Day celebration In Kogi to protest Non-Payment of salary The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Kogi has canceled the celebration of this year’s May Day in the state  in protest over the non-payment of workers’ salaries and monthly pensions of retirees.In a statement released on Sunday in Lokoja, (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) said the decision was taken in solidarity with the affected workers and pensioners. The statement was jointly signed by the state Chairman of the NLC, Mr Onu Edoka and his TUC counterpart, Mr Ranti Ojo. According to unions, the non-payment of salary to a large number of workers and pensioners over the past 14 months has destroyed the civil service and the workforce of the state.

In Abeokuta Man gets N250,000 bail for stealing N62,000 chicken at poultry farm The accused is facing a two-count charge of felony and theft.   An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo on Tuesday slammed a N250,000 bail on a  22-year-old man, Sulaimon Ajo, charged with stealing domestic fowls valued at N62,000. The Magistrate,  Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora , who gave the ruling, also granted the accused two reliable sureties in like sum. The accused, who resides at Baseru Araromi in Abeokuta, is facing a two-count charge of felony and theft. The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offences. Prosecutor  Sunday Eigbejiale  told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 19 at Baseru Araromi area of Abeokuta. Eigbejiale said the accused person broke into the poultry farm of the complainant, Ibrahim Mutiu and stole 38 domestic fowls. 5-Year-Old Boy Threatens Truck Driver With Knife In Order To Defend His Family’s Shop (Photos) A five-year-old boy waved a fruit knife at a truck driver in northwest China to defend his family's stall. It isn't the first time the fearless young boy nicknamed Xiao Pang has been in the spotlight, having appeared in a previous video waving a metal pipe at the local police to defend his grandmother's stall.  The latest video emerged online today showing Xiao Pang threatening to cut a truck's tyre as it was blocking his grandmother's street stall.  Xiao Pang, wearing a yellow vest and blue pants, angrily stares the female truck driver on the street of Xinjiang province, an autonomous territory in China.
